DIY Masks To Try At-Home For Better Skin

These DIY at-home masks are typically low cost, and pretty easy to whip up. Plus, they also take up very little of your time allowing you to do house chores while you let them work their magic, or you can kick back and catch up on your fave binge-worthy Netflix series. No judging!

Here are a few base ingredients (opt for organic when you can) to stock in your pantry and fridge for DIY anytime hydrating face masks. 

Shopping List:

  • Oats - they are an anti-inflammatory superfood and an antioxidant known to help soothe dry skin. They can also work great as an exfoliator, helping get rid of tough skin and oily pores. 
  • Yogurt - a great anti-aging ingredient to add to any at-home mask. It acts as the perfect glue when mixed with other ingredients and has lactic acid which helps to tighten pores and improve the texture of the skin
  • Honey - an overall amazing ingredient for your skin. It is antibacterial which helps fight acne, is full of antioxidants to slow down aging, and can be incredibly moisturizing. 

Here’s how to whip them up…

The Oatmeal Face Mask

All you need for this at-home mask is dry rolled oats, plain yogurt, and honey, preferably organic ingredients. 

Blend ¼ cup of oats until they are a powder consistency. Then, in a bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt and 2 tablespoons of honey. Pour the now powdered oats into the yogurt and honey bowl and mix. Let the mixture stand for 5 to 10 minutes until the oats are well coated. 

Apply the mask onto dry, clean skin, and relax! 

Rinse off the mask after 10 to 20 minutes to reveal fresh, hydrated skin!

 

The Honey Please Face Mask

On days, you can’t be bothered mixing together a concoction of household ingredients for a face mask, just grab the honey, honey

Just apply a thin layer to slightly damp skin. Take a minute to lightly rub it into the face and leave on for 30 minutes, or more. Gently rinse off with warm water and you’re likely to see rejuvenated, glowing skin.

Cucumber Cooler Face Mask

Cucumber can help with swelling and inflammation as well as skin irritation. Mix with plain yogurt, and you have a super simple yet extremely hydrating face mask. 

To try, peel and mash cucumber with a fork, then mix it together with a tablespoon of yogurt. Once thoroughly mixed, apply a thick layer to clean skin. Let dry for around 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water and a clean washcloth. Pat skin dry and enjoy the benefits. 

Sleep and Water

It can be easy to get caught up in the excitement of nice weather, and longer nights during the summer, but sleep is when your skin restores itself. Sleep can help your body regain moisture lost during the day and it doesn’t cost you a thing!

One of the most common mantras skincare experts repeat is “wear your sunscreen!” After that, it would have to be, “drink plenty of water!” 

Like sleep, water is the cheapest option in your skincare routine when striving for glowing skin, and one of the most important.
